Simply Sweet Ltd. open it's doors in 2007 in SW Calgary and we have since become a local favorite in our community and all over the city. We've even sent wedding cakes and sweets as far as Vancouver, Regina, Hawaii and Russia! Since opening in 2007, Simply Sweet Ltd has expanded it's products to include sugar cookies, macarons, and many other custom treats.  Your possibilities are endless!

Who is your pastry chef?

Krista Kienitz is an award-winning pastry chef and sugar artist. After graduating with honours from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and Professional Cooking Program, she honed her artistic technique through Advanced Cake Decorating and Sugar Flower Classes. She has continued to learn from the likes of Bronwen Weber of Bronwen Cakes, Peggy Tucker from Cake Play, Kasey Lackie of Innovative Sugarworks, Norm & Zane of The Sweet Life and many more.

Krista's innovative designs, delectable recipes and attention to detail have earned her many prestigious prizes and recognitions, including several Best in Show designations. Her work has been featured in wedding blogs, magazines, books, local television programs, and on the display tables tables at Calgary's most elegant wedding and celebration events. Krista's personalized consultation approach, meticulous attention to detail, and commitment to quality ensure that you will have the cake of your dreams.

How do I order a cake?

To start the order process, please fill out and send the easy to use contact us form, or send an email containing the following information:
 • The date of your event
 • The occasion/nature of your event (wedding, birthday, etc.)
 • The event location, delivery address, and delivery time
 • How many people you will need to serve
 • Your daytime phone number
 • Your email address
 • An idea of what kind of cake design you are looking for

A representative from Simply Sweet will contact you to discuss your order and/or schedule an appointment.  The more information, the better. It cuts down on the amount of e-mails and we can get your quote out quicker.

Our bakery is open by appointment only, we do not have any cakes pre-made for sale. Every cake we make is custom made to order from start to finish.

Where are you located?

Our address is 27 Cougartown Close SW, Calgary Alberta.  We are a licensed, home based kitchen and all orders are booked by appointment only.

Do you deliver?

Accepted Answer

Small orders can be sent out by courier, Tuesday thru Saturday.  Choose 'Local Calgary Delivery' during check out.

Set up and delivery is available for wedding cakes and cakes that require on-site assembly. Delivery fees are calculated by distance and usually range from $60.00-$75.00 within the Calgary city limits.  We will also deliver to surrounding areas including Banff and Canmore, contact us for the current delivery rate outside of Calgary.

While it is generally not a problem for clients to transport smaller cakes, self-transporting any cake is at your own risk. Simply Sweet Ltd. does not recommend clients self-transport large 3D/sculptural cakes, cakes over 2 tiers tall or any cake more than 4 hours. Simply Sweet is not responsible for any damage that may occur to any client-transported cake once it has left our bakery.

Do you make custom sugar cookies?

Yes, we do! We have the ability to design and print custom cookies cutters, add imaging directly onto cookies and so much more.

How much are your custom cakes?

Our custom cakes all have a minimum charge of 165.00 and start at $9 per serving (this is reflective of basic cake flavors and a simple/sleek design). Many of the custom cakes in my portfolio range from $9-$13 per serving after all details are completed.

How much are your sculpted cakes?

Our sculpted cakes all have a minimum charge of $375.00 and start at $15 per servings, many of the custom cakes in my portfolio range from $15-$20 per serving after all details are completed. A sculpted cake is any cake that requires us to carve cake away in order to create a custom shape: hockey jerseys, dinosaurs, soccer balls and the like.

How much are your wedding cakes?

Thank you for your consideration in hiring us to be the sugar artists for your wedding or event. Each wedding cake created is intricately designed, baked with gourmet ingredients, and all the little details are hand crafted over numerous days, even weeks to provide you with an absolute perfect edible center piece that reflects the vision for your wedding or event. Due to this lengthy and detailed customization rates will differ per client as the complexity of design and flavor combinations vary. The more intricate the design and the more complex the flavor choices the higher the cost will be.
In order to provide you with a rough estimate of cost our base rate for wedding cakes start at $9 per serving. Many of the cakes in my portfolio range from $9-$18 per serving after all details are completed.

Question 10

How far ahead do I need to book my wedding cake?

Four to six months in advance is the normal time for an elaborate wedding cake including sugar flowers and figurines. We can take cakes on shorter notice but there is a risk of us being booked up during the peak summer weeks.

How much are your cupcakes?

Accepted Answer

• $48.00 per dozen for standard cupcakes
 • $60.00 per dozen with fondant tops
 • $55.00 per 2 dozen mini cupcakes

What's your payment policy?

Accepted Answer

All wedding cake orders require a 50% non-refundable deposit to reserve your wedding date; the remainder is due at least two weeks prior to your event. Your order is not confirmed until we have received your signed contract and 50% non-refundable deposit. Payment can be made by e-transfer, cash, cheque or credit card.

Custom cake orders placed with less than two weeks notice require payment in full by credit card at the time of ordering.

All deposits and class fees are non-refundable.

If you cancel your order, your balance payment is refundable provided Simply Sweet Ltd. is notified at least ten (10) business days prior to the event. There is no payment refund on orders cancelled within ten (10) business days of the event.

Event dates are held for you through the date of your appointment or quote, and seven (7) business days afterwards.  If we do not receive a signed contract and 50% deposit within seven (7) business days of your appointment or quote, your date may become unavailable.

Question 13

Can I add to my order of holiday items I've already placed?

Please call us at 403.630.3067 if you have a request as we will see if we can accommodate, and we will add it to your order.

I'm looking for Corporate options

We offer many of our items with Corporate branding. We can create sugar cookies, cupcakes, marshmallows and more, including your logo and brand colors.  Connect with us at 403.630.3067 to discuss your options.

Question 15

I'm checking out and it says Shipping, can I Pick-Up instead?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you can. During the check out process, the second step is choosing your Delivery Option . The shipping fee will be removed once you choose 'Pick Up'.

I'd like to book but my date is not showing available.

Accepted Answer

We’re accepting limited custom orders again! 💛
Pickups are Fridays & Saturdays only at this time.

If you are unable to select a date, it means we are fully booked and unable to accomodate additional orders.
