How much are your wedding and celebration cakes?


Thank you for your consideration in hiring us to be the sugar artists for your wedding or event. Each cake created is intricately designed, baked with gourmet ingredients, and all the little details are hand crafted over numerous days, even weeks to provide you with an absolute perfect edible center piece that reflects the vision for your wedding or event. Due to this lengthy and detailed customization rates will differ per client as the complexity of design and flavor combinations vary. The more intricate the design and the more complex the flavor choices the higher the cost will be.

In order to provide you with a rough estimate of cost our base rate for wedding cakes start at $7 per serving ($5 per serving for birthday cakes), this is reflective of basic cake flavors and a simple/sleek design. Many of the cakes in my portfolio range from $6-$13 per serving after all details are completed. Sculpted cakes start at $10 per serving, the sculpted cakes in my portfolio range from $11-$20 per serving after all details are completed. Custom single tier cakes all have a minimum charge of $85.00, two-tier and sculpted cakes start at $125.00.




How far ahead do I need to book my wedding cake?


Six to eight months in advance is the normal time for a wedding cakes and two months for custom designed, large birthday cakes. We can take cakes on shorter notice but there is a risk of us being booked up during the summer months. We do now offer online ordering for some of our most popular designs and can often create them with as little as 48 hour's notice.




How do I order a cake?


To start the order process, please fill out and send the easy to use contact us form, or send an email containing the following information:

  • The date of your event
  • The occasion/nature of your event (wedding, birthday, etc.)
  • The event location, delivery address, and delivery time
  • How many people you will need to serve
  • Your daytime phone number
  • Your email address
  • An idea of what kind of cake design you are looking for

A representative from Simply Sweet will contact you to discuss your order and/or schedule an appointment. The more information, the better. It cuts down on the amount of e-mails and we can get your quote out quicker.

Our bakery is open by appointment only, we do not have any cakes pre-made for sale. Every cake we make is custom made to order from start to finish.




Where are you located?


We are located in SW Calgary, Alberta. Living in the Cougar Ridge area. We are a licensed, home-based kitchen.




Do you deliver?


Delivery is available for wedding cakes and cakes that require on-site assembly. Delivery fees are calculated by distance traveled and usually range from $60.00-$75.00 within the Calgary city limits. We will also deliver to surrounding areas including Banff and Canmore, contact us for the current delivery rate outside of Calgary. While it is generally not a problem for clients to transport smaller cakes, self-transporting any cake is at your own risk. Simply Sweet Ltd. does not recommend clients self-transport large 3D/sculptural cakes, cakes over 2 tiers tall or any cake more than 4 hours. Simply Sweet is not responsible for any damage that may occur to any client-transported cake once it has left our bakery.




How much are your cupcakes?


  • $3.50 each

  • $36.00 per dozen for standard cupcakes

  • $42.00 per dozen with fondant tops

  • $45.00 per 2 dozen mini cupcakes




I have dietary restrictions. Can you help?


At this time our bakery is not offering baking with dietary restrictions including gluten free or vegan. We’d be more than happy to suggest a location that would be able to suit your needs.




Do your cakes contain nuts?


Since our opening we have introduced nuts into our bakery so we are unable to guarantee your products will be nut free. We do work with nut-free families and schools when requested and are nut-aware.




What's your payment policy?


A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your date; the remainder is due at least two weeks prior to your event.

Your order is not confirmed until we have received your signed contract and 50% non-refundable deposit.

Payment can be made by e-transfer, cash, cheque or credit card. Cake orders placed with less than two weeks notice require payment in full by credit card at the time of ordering. Deposits and class fees are non-refundable.

If you cancel your order, your balance payment is refundable provided Simply Sweet Ltd. is notified at least ten (10) business days prior to the event. There is no payment refund on orders cancelled within ten (10) business days of the event.

Event dates are held for you through the date of your appointment or quote, and seven (7) business days afterwards. If we do not receive a signed contract and 50% deposit within seven (7) business days of your appointment or quote, your date may become unavailable.

Simply Sweet Ltd. open it's doors in 2007 in SW Calgary and we have since become a local favorite in our community and all over the city. We've even sent wedding cakes and sweets as far as Vancouver, Regina, Hawaii and Russia! Since opening in 2007, Simply Sweet Ltd has expanded it's products to include sugar cookies, macarons, and many other custom treats. Your possibilities are endless!

We pride ourselves on fresh baked, from scratch products that taste as great as they look. Don't see what you are looking for in our shop? We are still creating custom orders in addition to some of the fun items you will find in our new online shop!

You will also find our sweets seasonally at 5 Alberta Calgary Hospital sites including Foothills Medical Center, Alberta Children's Hospital, Rockeyview General Hospital, Peter Lougheed Center and Richmond Road Diagnostic and Treatment Center. We are also proud to work with Fiasco Gelato, another local Calgary company, and create their Vanilla Bean Mallows for their Frozen Hot Chocolate Gelato!




Who is your pastry chef?


Krista Kienitz is an award-winning pastry chef and sugar artist. After graduating with honours from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and Professional Cooking Program, she honed her artistic technique through Advanced Cake Decorating and Sugar Flower Classes. She has continued to learn from the likes of Bronwen Weber of Bronwen Cakes, Peggy Tucker from Cake Play, Kasey Lackie of Innovative Sugarworks, Norm & Zane of The Sweet Life and many more.

Krista's innovative designs, delectable recipes and attention to detail have earned her many prestigious prizes and recognitions, including several Best in Show designations. Her work has been featured in wedding blogs, magazines, books, local television programs, and on the display tables tables at Calgary's most elegant wedding and celebration events. Krista's personalized consultation approach, meticulous attention to detail, and commitment to quality ensure that you will have the cake of your dreams.
